OK, so you've merged or bought a competitor.  Time to pull all your mailing list together.  But do you go the whole hog and buy a new CRM system as well?

Well, ask yourself a few questions

Q: Not planning on checking and enhancing your data?
A: Use a spreadsheet instead

Q: Not taking a 'carrot and stick' approach to getting users to use your system? 
A: Use a spreadsheet instead
 
Q: Only planning on sending mailings and emailings out to your contacts?
A: Use a spreadsheet instead
 
Q: If all you are going to do is have one person adding to, updating and seeing the information in the database,

I’ve just received a letter reminding me about an Marketing exhibition I went to last year.  I will probably go this year too.

But I received 3 letters with near identical information. I wold normally have an internal whinge and carry on.  But, doing what I do, this gave me CRM blog content to write about, which probably doesn’t make me riveting company if I had to be 100% honest.

So who is looking at the information in their database not to spot this.

Probably nobody actually, as I’m no doubt ‘just on a mailing list’ type of database, not a CRM system where users need to look up details.
