Hello lovely visitor,

Here's a bit of information about the website and me to ease any fears you may have about "is this advice going to be any good and should I trust it?".

I've been involved with CRM Databases for about fifteen years, and every time I spoke to people in the same sort of work, one thing jumped out as a common theme.  There was no independent source of information - and we all had the same problems.  So I set this website up - just for people involved with CRM databases, CRM data, mailshots (on and offline). Over time, Social media, or online business networking has sprung up, and being database related, advice, tips and discussions on this topic are also now included.

To give you some background on myself, I'm the CRM Database Manager at Pinsent Masons LLP.  I developed and implemented their CRM database, email marketing and data strategies.  I also won two marketing awards during the project (a LEMA, and an 'all industries' CRM award).  I integrated users from three mergers, creating a globally used CRM system with 1,800 users - who use it regulalry, althought the hints and advice I offer are not just for huge firms - if you are a one man band - they'll work for you as well.

I have a Masters degree in Marketing, a degree in Business, am a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing, have written numerous articles on CRM issues for various publications (and hosted events), and am Chairman of the West Midlands PM Forum (an association dedicated to raising marketing standards in professional services).  I have fifteen years experience in eMarketing, mailshots, CRM databases and CRM data.  Twelve of those years have been in professional services, including PricewaterhouseCoopers.

I am also Chairman of the committee tasked with developing a Professional Services orientation to the Cambridge Marketing College's 'Digitial Marketing Diploma'.  In my spare time, I am steward of this website and you can contact me here.  Why a steward?  Well, I just pull everything together into your website for all our use.

Hope you find it a useful business tool.  Let me know if you do - or don't (so I can improve it for all of us).

Simon

PS.  Subscribe to our newsletter to get hints, tips, news, sources of info - all tailored to your interest areas.  All the information you need is held within our newsletter - links to various hidden pages in the website - the lot - which is why the website looks so simple.  If you want general CRM type ramblings, follow me on twitter  - but I have to warn you - I'm still experiementing with that one - and can't quite see how it can add value or work for professional service firms.  Follow me - watch me fail and then learn from my horrible mistakes.  LinkedIn is far more use (online business networking), so please do join the 'CRM database' discussion group on it .
